Thriving world of tribute bands at Taunton's District Center

The District Center for the Arts is on the COVID rebound and ready for the rush. Since opening in 2018, the District Center has become known for hosting tribute acts and the 2022 schedule is packed with tributes. So far this year, the District Center has seen tribute acts covering The Grateful Dead, AC/DC, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lynyrd Skynyrd and David Bowie. Taunton has lowest new COVID cases since July 2021

The city has reported its lowest weekly total of new COVID cases since July 2021.

Over the past week, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health says that there were 51 new cases of COVID in Taunton, according to the latest weekly report, released on Thursday. The last time that happened was the week of July 29, 2021, before fall and winter surges took hold in the city. The case total that week was 26.

What better way to celebrate your senior class and the 50th season of Taunton High School hockey than with a tournament berth? That's exactly what the Tigers did Thursday afternoon at the Aleixo Arena as they wrapped up their regular season with a 4-1 non-league win over Apponequet to seal a regular season record of 7-9-4 and, barring any major changes to the MIAA power rankings, a Division III state tournament berth.

The Bridgewater-Raynham boys basketball team snagged a share of the Southeastern Conference on the last day of the regular season. The Trojans beat Dartmouth 62-44 Thursday afternoon to claim a share of the SEC title with Durfee with a 6-2 record in league play and finish the regular season with an overall record of 12-8.
