Races and raves: All the coolest F1 parties for Singapore Grand Prix 2019

F1 is back for the umpteenth time (we’ve lost count, sorry), but everyone knows the actual action takes place off-track, on concert stages and party places. It’s not like you needed another reason to party, but we’re gonna give you a couple, and throw in some rooftop spots to watch the race if that’s your kind of thing.

Amber Lounge

The ultra swanky Amber Lounge returns with its usual host of celebs and F1 drivers, this time with an ice-themed fashion show on Saturday to showcase looks by designers Mr. G and Frieda Brides, followed by performances from Ella Eyre, DJ Sigala, and Bangkok Invaders on Sunday. Prices are on the steep side, but hey, drink your money’s worth at the open bar.

Asia Pitstop Series

Hang out at Clarke Quay Fountain Square for chillax fun with games like a virtual reality racing simulator, a tyre activation with the Heineken F1 Pit Crew, and carnival booths galore. DJs and musicians like Subhas Nair, Sheikh Banafe, Yeti Pack, and Charlie Williams will be providing the beat backdrop, while Get Juiced, Red Bull, and Heineken will serve the booze. There’ll also be official F1 merch on sale, as well as a live screening of the race, and after-parties at Get Juiced.

Sept 18-22, 6pm-midnight at Clarke Quay Fountain Square. Free entry.

 

Kampong Glam Block Party

Join in the after-party without shelling out at cent at Haji Lane, where fellow merrymakers, high on race fever, will fill the street. DJ Shai will provide the hip hop and R&B beats, along with funky soul grooves by Ground Up, Cuban melodies from Havana Social Club, and R&B tunes from DJ Titus. The first 200 to arrive get free shots, too, just in case you were wondering.

F1 at Aura Sky Lounge

For a sweet spot away from the sweaty F1 crowds, swing by Aura’s alfresco terrace, where you can sip on cocktails and wines in style. Entry doesn’t come cheap, but at least it includes two choices of wines, house-pour spirits, or beers.

Sept 20, 5pm-1am at Aura’s Coleman Deck. $80/person for free-standing ticket, includes two drinks.

 

F1 at Level33

Steer clear of the F1 throngs and watch the cars whiz by from your vantage spot at the world’s highest urban microbrewery, Level33. To splurge on unlimited drinks like house-brewed beers, wines, and sodas from 6pm to 10pm, you’ll have to reserve a table at $138 per person, or get the free flow package at the door for $98. The race will also be screened indoors, if you prefer to luxuriate in air-conditioned comfort.

F1 Carnival Party

Andaz Singapore’s rooftop bar turns into a carnival for F1 weekend, with DJ Highness and DJ Yujin spinning boogie beats and bar by Red Bull, Belvedere Vodka, Johnnie Walker, and Jägermeister stocked with booze and special drink concoctions. These include Red Bull’s newest Coconut Edition, Jägermeister’s Ice Pops, Vitamin C “Shots” by Belvedere, and Whisky New Fashion, a rendition of the Old Fashioned cocktail by Johnnie Walker.

If you prefer a little peace from the party chaos, round up a group of friends and take one of the teepees ($150) to pop champagne in private.

F1 Night Race Week

To take in the view from up high, start the festivities early at Cé La Vi, where Wednesday’s ladies’ night gifts female party-goers free entry with a glass of bubbles. DJ Serafin keeps things spinning on Thursday with catchy remixes, while DJ Babey Drew takes you into the weekend on Friday.

When Saturday comes around, Italian multi-instrumentalist duo Gabriele Poso and Fell Reis offer their take on jazz, soul, and house, followed by the likes of house music aficionados Dennis Ferrer, Oliver Dollar and Offaiah accompanying you till the wee hours of the morning. Sunday sees the club lounge transformed into Soularium, a boho electronic day-to-night soiree with Ibiza-based DJs Alex Kennon and Fell Reis helming the decks, followed by Mr. White and his house and tech grooves.

Sept 18-22 at Cé La Vi Club Lounge. Prices vary, with three-day pass (Fri-Sun) at $188, with one glass of champagne per day.

 

Puzzled at SO/

At hotel rooftop spot 1927 is where you can put your revelry stamina to the test, with a 12-hour marathon rave dishing out disco, nu-disco, funk, boogie, and house music by DJs from London, Ireland, and Sweden. No F1 frills here, just some good old dance party grit.

Race The Night

Bar Rouge kicks things off with a special edition of Girls Night Out on Thursday, where ladies can get free entry and unlimited drinks from 11pm to 1am, with DJ Casey serving the beats. Friday sees the official opening party bringing in UK DJ Andy Purnell, followed by hip hop duo Bangkok Invaders on Saturday and the club’s local line-up ending things off on Sunday.

If you’re a party animal, the three-day passes (Sept 20-22) go for $60 before 10:30pm, with one complementary drink per night.

Sept 19-22 at Bar Rouge, Swissôtel The Stamford. Prices vary, except for Thursday, which has free entry all night.

 

Radical Dash: F1 Weekend Special

The retro arcade bar takes you back in time to the days of Hot Wheels and Tamiyas for an old school race with music by DJs Bobos, Ollie’des, and Andrew Chow over the weekend.

Sept 20-21, 9pm-late at Nineteen80. $18 after 10pm, includes one house pour.

 

Sky Grande Prix

The yearly party series returns with five nights of themed soirees, from Wednesday’s ladies’ night with free gel manicures to Saturday’s Red Bull Pit Stop Party to Sunday’s F1-themed menu paired with Casillero del Diablo wines and the live screening of the final race.

Smack My Beach Up: Fuel Up for F1

Laze by the beach this Sunday with good vibes from DJ Andrew M before you race off to catch the F1 finals later in the day. To get your adrenaline going, sign up for a round of Flip Cup or battle it out with your pals at a game of Jenga.

The Podium Lounge

If you haven’t had enough of The Podium Lounge over the last 11 years, hit up the party again at Ritz-Carlton, where things get swanky with celeb appearances and performances by Melanie C (Sporty Spice), musical comedy troupe The Cuban Brothers, and British actor/singer Raleigh Ritchie (aka Grey Worm from Game of Thrones). Other names on the line-up include Daniel Jones of Savage Garden, Kathleen de Leon (original cast member of Hi-5), and local talent Maya Davidov.

Va Va Vroom

F1 weekend gets a sultry spin at Lulu’s Lounge, with guest burlesque performers like Porcelain Alice and Memphis Mae from Australia. Also look out for The Steve McQueens funking up the place on Saturday, and a new cocktail menu with updated bar bites to fuel up before heading to the dance floor.

Zouk F1 Weekender

Friday night at Zouk features DJ Ghetto and his guest, Ethan Lian, taking you through the tunes of hip hop and big room for the 100% Bulletproof party series at the main Zouk dance floor, alongside Eatmepoptart with Adrian Wee, Kidg and Hedger at Phuture.

On Saturday, Jeffrey Sutorius, better known as part of Dutch trance act Dash Berlin, will helm the party at Zouk. But if you’re in the mood for a throwback, Total Recall at Capital sees Lincey and The Dinosaur playing tracks by ’90s headliners like Britney Spears, Westlife, and Destiny’s Child.
