Town of Cherry placed back into SET mode after evacuation on Sunday due to Racetrack Fire

On Tuesday afternoon the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office announced that residents of the Cherry area can go back to their homes under a SET mode after an evacuation on Sunday, issuing GO mode due to the Racetrack Fire.

Residents in the area of Federal Mines Road in Cherry were told to evacuate their homes.

Residents were told to head over to Camp Verde where an evacuation shelter was being established, the Sheriff’s Office said.

But the sheriff's office did warn residents to be cautious of fire activity continuing around the area. The area is currently open to residents and public safety personnel only.

The fire had burned at least 30 acres and was threatening the town of Cherry and as of Tuesday afternoon, the fire had grown to about 500 acres.
