  • Rachel Lindsay revealed what she and Hannah Brown talked about after Hannah said the N-word on Instagram Live.

  • Rachel said Hannah thought releasing a statement apology would be “insincere.”

  • Hannah posted a statement to her Instagram anyway.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Hannah Brown said the N-word on Instagram Live and tried to deny it right after, and her apology still isn’t sitting well with many people. On May 18, right after the incident, former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay explained why she thought Hannah should post another video apologizing for using a racial slur instead of just releasing a statement like she did.

It was a very messy situation, and things just became way messier because Rachel spoke to Nick Viall and revealed what actually happened when she and Hannah spoke on the phone.

According to Rachel, when they spoke before Hannah released the statement, Hannah was “very remorseful,” “very upset,” and “embarrassed.” Rachel continued, “She was admitting she was wrong, and she said she wanted to go on a Live. She was going to go first and then bring me on.”

Obviously, that’s not how it went down. Rachel explained, “Twice, she got off the phone with me to tell me, ‘Okay, I’m going to go do it. I’m just going to go get ready.’ Hours later, nothing. Then we would talk on the phone. And then hours later, nothing again until it was ultimately decided she wanted to do a statement.”

Releasing the statement is what “disappointed” Rachel the most because according to her, Hannah even said, “a statement would be insincere.” Rachel went on to say:

“And I believed her when she said it. And it was her team that was advising her to give a statement. And she said, in her heart, she didn’t feel it was that way, and she felt that God had wanted her to use her platform for a bigger purpose. And she was going to step up and do that. So, then to see her ultimately text me and say, ‘I’m going to give a statement’ was extremely disappointing because you yourself said that that was insincere. So why did you, therefore, decide to do an insincere action? I’m very confused by that.”

Yikes.

Hannah’s been keeping a low profile ever since she apologized, so we’ll see if she decides to address this via an IG Stories statement or an actual video. That is, if she chooses to do so at all.
