Rachel Maddow Unveils New Podcast 'Deja News'

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is expanding her growing and successful podcast empire with an original project called Rachel Maddow Presents: Déja News, which will premiere June 12.
“How often have you seen something on the news recently and found yourself thinking, man, this is crazy? This is unprecedented! I don’t think anything like this has ever happened before,” Maddow asks in the trailer for her new work.
Maddow’s upcoming show will feature cohost and MSNBC producer Isaac-Davy Aronson. According to a show trailer, the pair have worked together for 20 years.
Déjà News, announced Monday, will focus on the parallels between historical and current events.
Maddow wrote on Twitter that there was “a new thing,” alongside a link to the trailer for the new program.

“What if, in fact, we have contended with something like this before? Is that helpful to know? Can it at least give us better ways to describe what we’re facing and maybe better understanding of what might happen next?” Maddow wonders.
“In each episode, Rachel and cohost Isaac-Davy Aronson seek a deeper understanding of a story in today’s headlines by asking: Has anything like this ever happened before? Would knowing that help us grapple with what’s happening now… and what might happen next?” asks the podcast description.
“[In] our brand new podcast, Rachel Maddow Presents: Deja News, each week we’ll dive into a story from history that has uncanny resonance with something in the headlines today,” Aronson adds.
Following Rachel Maddow Presents: Bag Man and Rachel Maddow Presents: Ultra, this will be the out lesbian broadcaster’s third podcast series.
In 2021, Maddow resettled her eponymous MSNBC show from nightly to only Mondays so that she could pursue other ventures with NBCUniversal, MSNBC’s parent company.
Rachel Maddow Presents: Bag Man, which recounts the incredible 1973 bribery scandal surrounding President Richard Nixon’s Vice President Spiro Agnew, is currently being produced as a feature film. Ben Stiller is slated to direct the movie.
In addition, Steven Spielberg’s production company, Amblin, is developing Rachel Maddow Presents: Ultra, her second podcast covering early American extremism and a foiled plot to overthrow the government.
Despite stepping back from her daily hosting duties, Maddow continues to anchor significant news events and election specials. Her Monday evening show dominates the ratings.
Earlier this year, Maddow’s second podcast, Rachel Maddow Presents: Ultra, was awarded the prestigious Hillman Prize for Broadcast Journalism as the first podcast to receive this recognition.
