Raging River 'Damages Three Bridges' as Storm Francis Brings Flooding to Northern Ireland

The Shimna River burst its banks in County Down, Northern Ireland, as Storm Francis brought downpours and flooding to the town of Newcastle on August 25,local media reported.

Video, uploaded by local tour guide Kevin Brogan, shows the Shimna raging through the Tollymore Forest Park near Newcastle.

Brogan said the force of the river flooding had “destroyed three bridges.”

The BBC reported that elderly residents had to be evacuated from their homes in Newcastle.
