Jon Gruden resigned from the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday after several emails emerged from 2011 in which Gruden vulgar remarks about several different people in and around the NFL.

One of those crude emails involved an attack on Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player. That is notable for several reasons, but the biggest being that his team had an openly gay player on the roster in Carl Nassib.

On Wednesday, general manager Mike Mayock took the podium and answered questions from reporters about Gruden leaving and how the rest of the team is handling his absence.

Mayock mentioned that Nassib was granted a personal day and missed practice on Wednesday. According to Mayock, Nassib needed the day off because he has “a lot to process.”

Nassib is expected to practice later in the week, but it would certainly be understandable if he needed a few more days before returning to the team. The Raiders have two more practices ahead of them before they take on the Broncos in Week 6.

Nassib has been a big part of the defense for the Raiders this season, playing 106 snaps as a rotational defensive end. He has totaled 1.5 sacks along with two quarterback hits and one tackle for a loss.
