Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was injured in the second quarter in what was deemed a back injury against the New England Patriots.

Garoppolo went to the locker room just before halftime after he was moving slowly on the field and wincing.

He didn’t appear on the sideline in the third quarter.

Backup QB Brian Hoyer entered the game and completed 6 of 10 for 102 yards in the Raiders’ 21-17 victory. The Raiders sealed the game when Bilal Nichols and Maxx Crosby sacked Mac Jones in the end zone.

The Raiders had ruled Jimmy G doubtful to return, but later said he is out. NFL on CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said Jimmy G was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Raiders coach Josh McDaniels did not have an update on Garoppolo.

“A lot up in the air right now relative to Jimmy,” McDaniels said. “We’ll just see. I’m hoping for the best. I don’t know exactly where it’s at and we’ll find out more.”

Jimmy G completed 14 off 22 for 162 yards and a touchdown against an interception in the first half.

The injury bug has been a problem for Jimmy G the past several seasons, including last season when he had a foot fracture in December while playing for the San Francisco 49ers.
