Raiders met with Florida QB Anthony Richardson on Wednesday

The Las Vegas Raiders continue to be in the quarterback market despite the addition of Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason. It appears they are still interested in bringing in a young quarterback to sit behind Garoppolo for the next year or two.

One possible candidate for that role is Florida QB Anthony Richardson, who tested as the most athletic quarterback in NFL Combine history in February. And it appears the Raiders have a significant amount of interest in the former SEC passer.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the Raiders had dinner with Richardson on Wednesday night ahead of his Pro Day on Thursday.

Richardson would be the ideal “draft and stash” quarterback option for the Raiders considering he’s still a ways away from being ready to start in the NFL. But the Raiders have a proven veteran quarterback in place that could buy him some time.

Will Richardson fall to No. 7? That feels unlikely. But with the additional draft capital added this offseason, maybe we see the Raiders try to move up a few spots to secure one of the most talented quarterbacks we’ve seen enter the league in several years.
