Richmond County Schools told NewsChannel 6 that they do not anticipate delays because they have made necessary adjustments to their bus routes.

Starting February 1st, road closures in McCormick County will begin from Meriwether Road up to Washington School Road near Hamilton Branch State Park.

Each crossing will be closed to through traffic until the work is complete.

The work to rebuild all the crossings is expected to be finished by the end of the week, weather permitting.

A spokesperson for CSX contractor Southern Commercial Development, LLC, tells us they are hoping to reopen the intersection at Alexander Drive and River Watch Parkway by the weekend, but they noted that they were unable to start early on Monday, as planned, due to an equipment failure.

Officials advise drivers to find alternate routes to avoid the closures and leave early enough to account for the increase in traffic.
