Will storms help clear out the toxic smoke?
Original article: As toxic smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to blanket the Midwest, Central Indiana could see more severe weather in the coming days with thunderstorms possible into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
There's a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday in portions of Central Indiana before 11 p.m., according to NWS, with forecasters saying showers and thunderstorms are likely between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Meteorologists warn some of these storms might become severe over the coming days, with wind and hail being the main threats, but isolated tornadoes also are possible. They recommend Hoosiers pay attention to the weather and have multiple ways of getting warnings during severe storms.

Will the rain clear out the smoke in Indiana?
On a brighter note, forecasters say the rain might wash out dangerous particles from the air, helping Hoosiers breathe a little easier.
"Rain showers on Thursday or Friday would have a cleansing effect to get rid of the smoke," said Jason Puma, a local meteorologist with the weather service, who added a change in the airstream could push the smoke away as well.
The chance for showers in Central Indiana remains in effect throughout the weekend, according to NWS.
A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will move east into central #inwx before 3:00 PM EDT and then move across the area. Some of the storms may produce damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rain and flooding. Isolated tornadoes are also possible. pic.twitter.com/93HYPgaT4T
