Rain moves through early morning, colder temps move in

A powerful cold front with a history of severe storms quickly moved through NE Florida overnight and was thankfully weaker. Neighborhoods saw much-needed rain.

Skies will gradually clear through the day, and Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says temperatures will fall into the 50s. Winds will be breezy out of the northwest at 10-20 mph this afternoon.

We start off the weekend in the 30s Saturday and only rise to the mid 50s in the afternoon. Feels like temperatures in the morning will be in the 20s. Saturday afternoon will be cool as well. Highs only in the lower 50s.

The Jaguars game will be chilly with a kickoff temperature near 40 degrees and some wind. Feels-like temperatures will be in the 30s. Widespread frost and an inland freeze arrives Sunday morning. It’ll be sunny throughout the day with temperatures only in the 50s to end the weekend.

Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, will be mostly sunny and seasonably mild in the upper 60s. That will be the start of a warming trend. Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the mid-70s.
