If you like rain and wind, Wednesday is going to be your kind of day

The National Weather Service is using the adjective "dynamic" to describe the storm system that will move into the Tri-State on Wednesday.

Other descriptors: "Wet" and "windy."

Forecasters think up to an inch and a half of rain could fall in the Evansville and Henderson areas on Wednesday, with the bulk of the foul weather coming in the afternoon and evening hours. It'll be worse in far Southern Illinois and Southeastern Missouri, where 2 to 3 inches of rain are expected.

The wind will be unpleasant, as well. Sustained winds will be in the 20-25 mph range late Wednesday into Thursday morning, with gusts approaching 40 mph.

Additionally, an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible, and minor flooding could occur.

The other "dynamic" aspect of the storm? The temperatures. Temperatures as of midday Tuesday were around 55 degrees in Evansville. That figure will drop to around 40 overnight, bounce back to the lower 60s in the overnight hours Wednesday into Thursday, then be below freezing by late Friday night.

Your sinuses are going to love it.

On the bright side, the weekend will be pleasant, if also a little chully on Saturday. Sunny skies are in the forecast, with a high of 41 degrees on Saturday and 51 on Sunday. Slight rain chances return Monday.
