Rainbow Assembly donate to CPS

Oct. 14—Dressed in pink, blue and purple tutus, Ann and Rebecca Tolbert walked two miles in the Splatter Run for International Order of Rainbow for Girls 100th year Anniversary.

Their two-mile walk raised $1,275, which they donated to Claremore Public Schools during the regular school board meeting.

Claremore Superintendent Bryan Frazier said the money will be used for the STEM Club for Girls.

"It just seemed fitting because obviously, the rainbow group is about young ladies," he said.

Frazier said both groups focus on the empowerment of these girls and encouraging them in areas of business and networking.

Claremore Rainbow Assembly is in District 1 of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, which is a non-profit organization open to girls ages 11-20 that strives to teach girls how to network, speak in public and improve leadership skills.

Claremore Rainbow Assembly Mother Advisor Michelle Tolbert said her girls have been involved since last October.

"It has helped them to develop in being more comfortable getting up in front of people and talking," she said. "They have also developed friendships, from girls across the state."

Michelle said they also love doing service projects. Previous service projects include providing free face painting at the Blue Whale of Catoosa's 50th Birthday Bash, giving out free balloons during Food Truck Thursday or handing out flowers to ladies downtown for Mothers Day.

"They enjoy just going out in the community and doing service projects," she said.

Michelle said their upcoming service project is volunteering for the Special Olympics.

Michelle said The International Order of Rainbow for Girls gave out over $250,000 in scholarships to about 30 girls this spring.

The International Order of Rainbow for Girls is open to anyone ages 11-20. There's a $35 yearly membership fee. Anyone interested in joining can contact Tolbert at (918) 803-3891.
