RaisingCane'sproposed in Simsbury

Jul. 18—The restaurant, which is new to Connecticut, specializes in chicken fingers. The Simsbury location will be 3,284-square-feet and include a drive-thru and outdoor patio area.

The site is located on the north side of West Main Street within the Simsbury Commons Shopping Plaza, according to the application. It will be sited in the existing parking lot, between Men's Warehouse and Santander Bank.

There are enough parking spaces at the site, and the restaurant is not expected to impact parking demand for other businesses, according to the application documents.

This will be the third outlet for the chain restaurant that's expected to open in Connecticut.

In October of 2022, Raising Cane's proposed a plan to open another location in Enfield, which is projected to open later this year. Raising Cane's also opened a restaurant in Marlborough in May.

The fast-food chain has had plans for the Simsbury location and was looking at sites around the Hartford and New Haven areas as well, Julia Doyle, Raising Cane's spokesperson wrote in an October email.

The first location opened in Louisiana in 1996, according to the company's website. It has expanded to hundreds of locations across the nation since.

The Simsbury approval comes less than a month after the Zoning Commission also discussed a proposal for a drive-thru Chipotle and Starbucks on Hopmeadow Street. Those applications were continued to the September meeting.
