Raleigh’s Brewery Bhavana is opening a second restaurant. Here’s where to find it.

A glitzy Cary shopping center has added another expansion from a major Triangle restaurant group.

Downtown Raleigh’s Brewery Bhavana will open a new location in Cary’s Fenton development, with an outdoor beer garden planned as the centerpiece of the expansion. The new Bhavana will be significantly smaller in size and scope than the downtown original, which has 2,000 square feet of dining space, plus room for a bookstore and flower shop.

Since its founding in 2017, Bhavana has earned rare accolades in the food world, including a spot on Bon Appetit’s best new restaurants in the country roundup that year.

It was also the subject of sexual harassment allegations in 2020, which led to the departure and divestment from the restaurant of former co-owner Vansana Nolintha.

According to corporate filings, Brewery Bhavana is now solely owned by co-founder Patrick Woodson, who assumed control in June 2023.

“We’re most excited about the opportunity to offer our version of an outdoor beer garden,” said Woodson, in a release. “We will be able to create this casual outdoor dining space filled with live plants and offering light dim sum plates and flowing drinks, which we cannot offer in downtown Raleigh.”

The Fenton Brewery Bhavana will put the spotlight on the Belgian-inspired beer offerings, which often feature barrel aged and sour beers alongside a core lineup of saisons, pale ales and IPAs.

The kitchen will again focus on dim sum, including steamed and fried dumplings. While the downtown Bhavana looks out on Raleigh’s Moore Square, the Fenton location will add outdoor seating, with a patio and courtyard.

The new Bhavana is slated to open later this year.

Major restaurants at Fenton

Fenton’s roster of restaurants already includes major expansions from popular Triangle chefs, plus others from the Southeast.

Michael Lee has two restaurants in Fenton — M Sushi and M Test Kitchen. There’s also Ford Fry’s Superica, Steve Palmer’s Colletta and the popular Raleigh cocktail bar Dram & Draught. Raleigh chef Scott Crawford will add his long-awaited Crawford Brothers Steakhouse this year as well.
