These Raleigh streets will close on Thanksgiving for 3 Turkey Day road races

Getting to grandma’s house on Thanksgiving could get a little complicated if you’re going early and need to cross the path of early morning Turkey trotters.

Three different road races — the annual Raleigh Turkey Trot 8K, the Trophy Trot and Skinny Turkey Half Marathon — will close roads across the city Thursday morning.

Here’s what to know.

Raleigh Turkey Trot route and road closures

The annual Raleigh Turkey Trot road race, which benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, runs almost the entire length of Ridge Road on Thursday, and will close several major roads in west Raleigh.

The morning of the race, runners will start parking at Meredith College at 6:30 a.m. and checking in at Fleet Feet in Ridgewood Shopping Center on Wade Avenue from 6:45 to 8:15 a.m.

The 8K race will start at 8:30 a.m. with an awards ceremony at 9:20. A Kids Dash race starts around 9:35 a.m. at the Ridge Road entrance of the Ridgewood Shopping Center. The race should end by 10 a.m.
