An upcoming sporting goods store is hoping to score a touchdown with Lubbock sports fans before the return of football season.

Rally House, which kicked off in Kansas City in the 1980s, has been rapidly expanding its presence as a leader in fan-favorite sporting apparel and goods. The company is an official game day retailer for Kansas University Athletics, has a team of designers to create unique merchandise, and stocks classic brands, including Adidas and Nike.

On Friday, Feb. 24, the company announced it would be opening a store in Lubbock later this summer, according to a news release. The location will be 5017 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 100, in the Canyon West Shopping Center.

Colin Novick, media producer for Rally House, talked with the A-J on Monday about why the company wanted to add Lubbock to its store roster.

"We're really excited to get into Lubbock and have the opportunity to provide gear for all the fans in the area," Novick said. "Our main goal is to outfit fans in the gear that they need, and what they're looking for."

As for why the company decided to add Lubbock to its lineup, Texas Tech was a big draw for the company. The company already has more than 2,400 Texas Tech items listed on it site due to the popularity in their Dallas-Fort Worth area stores.

"We've been seeing a lot of success in other college towns," Novick said. "It just made sense. We have a great starting point to provide the best assortment for any team here ... built out in our Dallas-Fort Worth market."

The Lubbock store will have merchandise for fans of other pro teams as well. Novick mentioned that the store will likely have Patrick Mahomes jerseys when it opens.

"What sets us apart from our competitors is the overall selection we bring in," Novick said. "We're going to have the popular Nike, Adidas, and all those styles, but we work with a ton of vendors to bring in unique things that you can't find anywhere else."

That selection also changes often, bringing in fresh finds for every trip, he mentioned. Part of those fresh finds could include exclusive items designed under the Rally House brand.

Non-sports fans should be able to find something they would like in Rally House as well. It will offer Lubbock-themed and local merchandise.

The store is also looking to hire two store managers, two assistant store managers, six more leadership positions, and 15-20 store associates. Applications can be found at rallyhouse.com/careers. People can keep up with the business at rallyhouse.comFacebookInstagram, and Twitter.
