Police say they took two suspects into custody in connection with the shooting at 152 and N. Indiana.

Witness Billy White was about to go into Proud Souls Barbecue next door to Rally House. He was ahead of his wife when he heard the gunshot.

“I see the guy come out moving quick with an arm full of jerseys,” White said of the suspect Wednesday.

“I turn back to look to see where my wife’s at, and I hear a ‘Pow.’ I look back, and he runs that way for about 20 feet, and then comes back and hops up on the wall and comes running straight at me… with a gun in his hand.”

White and his wife hid between cars until the suspect took off. Once he got into a car, White rushed to help the worker who had been shot.

“I stayed there and helped tie a tourniquet on his leg and held his hand until the paramedics got here,” White said.

The whole thing was unexpected for White, but he was glad to be able to help.

“I left Lowe’s and decided I needed some rub, so I was put here for a reason, man,” he continued. “I don’t know. I don’t know if what I did did any good, or what but…”

“Nah,” White said when asked if he was a hero in this situation. “If I am, I am. I just try to stay humble man.”

The names of the suspects and the name of the victim have not been released.
