Late rally lifts Jacksonville University over Edward Waters in women's basketball

Jacksonville University outscored Edward Waters College 7-2 in the final 1:57 to break a 62-62 tie and defeat the Tigers 69-64 on Monday at Swisher Gym.

JU (2-0) got late baskets by Carmella Walker, Khalela Hayes and Deshari Graham after EWC (4-1) tied the game for the 13th and final time with 2:18 remaining on La'Quanza Glover's basket.

The lead changed hands 12 times. Edward Waters, playing in NCAA Division II for the first time, rallied from a 42-31 halftime deficit behind Glover, who scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the second half. She added 21 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Graham scored 10 of her team-high 16 points in the second quarter to give the Dolphins their double-digit halftime lead. Hayes had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Walker had 14 points.

Teiyahna Hutchinson had 11 points for the Tigers and Molly Ragle of Fleming Island and Emari Bell had 10 points each.
