Ramapo cops charge two with burglarizing Monsey synagogues and schools

RAMAPO - A 21-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy have been charged with burglarizing synagogues and other religious facilities in Monsey, police said.

The break-ins occurred at buildings on Blauvelt and Forshay roads on Thursday, leading to the dual arrests of the Monsey residents on the same day following an investigation, Ramapo Police Detective Lt. Chris Franklin said in a release.

Police also charged the 21-year-old Yoeli Al-Nahari, aka Alnahari, with burglarizing another Monsey private school on Saddle River Road on July 30 and possessing proceeds from a separate burglary in Montebello when arrested.

Police also learned Al-Nahari faced a charge of second-degree robbery in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Ramapo police charged both with multiple felony counts of third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. The charges also included misdemeanor counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Al-Nahari was ordered held in the Rockland County Jail on $10,000 bail set by a Ramapo justice. He faces an extradition hearing to Bergen County, New Jersey, as a fugitive from justice on the robbery count.

The police didn't release the name of the 12-year-old because he's a minor. Police released him on an appearance ticket. Police said his charges will be adjudicated in Rockland County Family Court in New City.
