Ramazan Kuramagomedov steps in to fight Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 187
Alex Oliveira has a new opponent for UFC Fight Night 187.
Originally scheduled to fight Randy Brown, Oliveira (21-9-1 MMA, 11-7 UFC) now faces promotional newcomer Ramazan Kuramagomedov in a welterweight fight this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Two people with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the booking Tuesday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Oliveira, 33, has won two of his most recent three fights entering UFC Fight Night 187. Following back-to-back wins over Max Griffin and Peter Sobotta, Oliveira was submitted by promotional newcomer Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 254 in October.
Stops Kuramagomedov (8-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) made en route to the UFC includes ACB, PFL, and CFFC, among others. In July 2019, Kuramagomedov defeated Jordan Williams by split decision on Dana White’s Contender Series. The win was deemed questionable by White, who criticized the judges after the event. In eight professional victories, Kuramagomedov has finished five.
