The Rams lost tight end Johnny Mundt for the season when he suffered a torn ACL in Week 6 against the Giants and while he wasn’t necessarily a starter, he was an important player behind Tyler Higbee.

With Mundt out, the Rams are elevating Kendall Blanton from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Lions, giving them four tight ends to utilize this week.

Blanton is a 6-foot-6 tight end with a wide catch radius, but he doesn’t have much experience. He’s only been active for one game in his career – which came in 2019 – and hasn’t taken an offensive snap in the regular season.

In addition to Blanton, the Rams have Higbee, Jacob Harris and Brycen Hopkins at tight end. It remains to be seen who will be the No. 2 option when they go to two-tight end sets like they did with Higbee and Mundt.
