Rams forced 8 turnovers, crushed Packers in last playoff meeting

The Rams and Packers have a long history, squaring off a total of 95 times since 1937. The Rams barely lead the all-time series 47-46-2, but only two of those games have come in the postseason. The third will take place on Saturday at Lambeau Field with a spot in the NFC championship on the line.

The first playoff meeting was in 1967, a 28-7 win by the Packers, but the most recent meeting went much better for the Rams. Back in 2002, they met in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs, with the Rams hosting the Packers as the higher seed.

It wasn’t much of a game, though, as the Rams convincingly crushed Brett Favre and Green Bay at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis. The Rams forced eight turnovers, second-most in a playoff game in NFL history, and cruised to a 45-17 win.

They scored three defensive touchdowns, with two being pick-sixes by Aeneas Williams and the third a 34-yard interception return by Tommy Polley. It’s a game many Rams fans remember, and one worth watching the highlights of.

The Rams made it all the way to the Super Bowl that year, where they lost to the Patriots. They won’t face the Patriots again this year, but hopefully the Rams can get past Green Bay once again and make a push for the Super Bowl.
