Officers were recognized for their service, and two officers were promoted. Randall County Sheriff Christopher Forbis spoke about recognizing the challenging work of his officers. Forbis emphasized that most people who join the department do not get into it for recognition, but it is important to recognize their contributions.

“It is essential to show appreciation to our people because their jobs are so important,” Forbis said. “They make life-and-death decisions every day. The decisions they make impact a lot of people. Showing appreciation is not just for them, but for the families supporting them. The families also sacrifice while these officers are working and serving the public. It's a small thing, but it's something in my heart I must do to thank the community. Without them, the process would fall apart."

Speaking about Elrod, Forbis spoke admirably of her dedication to service.

“BJ Elrod goes above and beyond every day, and everyone notices it,” Forbis said. “She is on our honor guard and is always there to fill in the gaps. She is always there to take care of her fellow officers. Elrod is a person who is truly a servant, and you can see it in her actions and heart.”

Elrod, who has worked with Randall County for eight years as an officer, spoke about receiving the award.

“I feel honored to be recognized by those I serve with,” Elrod said. “I always wanted to help people, and being with this organization has been a wonderful experience. I appreciate all the support that I have received. I try to show up daily with a positive attitude and do my best.”
