Randles and Bunce leading Clarkston School Board races

Nov. 8—Dan Randles and Chris Bunce are leading their races for Clarkston School Board in two contested elections.

Randles received 1,563 votes and Rick Hanks had 1,495. Bunce had 2,127 over Todd Snarr's 918 on Tuesday night. Election results will be certified 21 days after the election.

With the results being a difference of 68 votes, Randles wasn't ready to celebrate just yet.

"It looks pretty good," he said. "I'm pretty superstitious, I don't want to get in front of the horse. I figured it would be close."

He's hoping the votes will continue the trend and he will maintain his lead to take the spot on the school board.

"I'm looking forward to getting the opportunity to work for the community and share their vision of the things they want in the Clarkston School District in regards to school safety, learning and facilities," Randles said.

Randles and Hanks were the top two finishers in the primary, beating the incumbent Rachel Rinard. The two were competing for school director position No. 1.

"I wish Dan Randles the best and I wish the school district the best," Hanks said.

Snarr and Bunce were running in the other contested race for position No. 5. Bunce is the incument.

"I am humbled by the faith in me from our community," Bunce said. "Thank you to all who supported my campaign. I'm looking forward to continuing to support Clarkston education and give back to the community."
