DEDHAM – E-commerce giant Amazon is planning to close five of its delivery facilities in Massachusetts and consolidate the work with other locations.

Delivery stations in Dedham, Everett, Mansfield, Milford and Randolph are all slated to be closed, according to a statement from Amazon spokesperson Caitlin McLaughlin.

Employees of those locations are being offered the opportunity to transfer to other sites. McLaughlin said some of the available opportunities are as close as 7 miles from the employees' current work locations.

"We regularly look at how we can improve the experience for our employees, partners, drivers and customers, and that includes upgrading our facilities," McLaughlin said. "These facilities provide upgraded amenities, including increased on-site parking, larger operational spaces, and better breakrooms with open market vending."

McLaughlin did not immediately provide closing dates for the five affected facilities.

Amazon has numerous warehouses and delivery stations across the state, including a recently-opened location in Bridgewater that focuses on making deliveries within hours of receiving an order.

Last September, the Braintree Planning Board approved the retail giant's plan to turn the former Saks Off 5th and 5.11 Tactical spaces into a 37,500-square-foot Amazon Fresh store at the Grossman Drive shopping plaza.

Amazon is also preparing to open at a grocery store at the former home of a Big Y store in Saugus. The company has confirmed that store and has posted jobs for the location, but did not announce a target date for opening.

The company recently swept up Bedford-based iRobot, maker of Roomba robotic vacuums, in a deal worth $1.7 billion. Amazon also opened a Tech Hub in the Seaport for thousands of workers.
