Randolph County to gauge community health with survey

Randolph County residents will have the choice to sound off on their concerns pertaining to community health.

An online survey commissioned by Randolph County's Department of Health has gone live and department officials are encouraging members of the public to take part in it.

The survey can be found via the Survey Monkey portal on the county's website.

"Randolph County Public Health developed this survey to give county residents a chance to voice their opinions about health issues in their community," reads information from the Health Department. "Information gathered from the survey will be used to learn more about health needs in the county."

The 16 question survey covers a range of topics, from economics to public safety.

The completely confidential and voluntary survey shows how the county defines community health, among other factors.

"Consider the cost, quality, number of options and availability of healthcare where you live," reads a description from the survey about quality community healthcare.

The survey goes on to define quality childhood environment as having "accessibility, quality, and safety of schools, child care programs, after school programs, and places to play."

The survey also considers a number of factors when gauging quality of life. These include affordability of health insurance, green spaces and neighborhood safety, among others.

"Neighborhoods with low crime, sidewalks in good repair, communities with access to clean air and water, and safe places for children to play," is how the survey defines neighborhood safety.

In regards to economic opportunity, residents are asked to consider the amount of jobs that offer a living wage, training, and opportunities for advancement, among other factors.

Participating residents have until Oct. 4 to complete the survey.
