Randolph County man charged with attacking guests at Winchester hotel

WINCHESTER, Ind. — A Randolph County man has been accused of attacking fellow guests, and a staff member, at a Winchester hotel.

Brian Michael King, 34 — listed in court documents at a rural Union City address — was charged Wednesday in Randolph Superior Court with battery resulting in serious bodily injury, possession of meth, intimidation, resisting law enforcement and two counts of battery.

Witnesses said King was at Randolph Inn & Suites, 890 E. Washington St., "beating on outside walls and doors," about 8 p.m. on Dec. 8 when a hotel staff member urged him to be quiet and return to his his room.

King allegedly shoved the woman, and knocked her cellphone from her hands. She told Winchester police that King said "he was going to kill all of us."

When another guest — from Lakeville, in northern Indiana's St. Joseph County — tried to intervene, he said King "immediately started hitting me in the face and head," causing that man to fall down and briefly lose consciousness.

King also allegedly struggled with, and tried to kick, Winchester officers when they took him into custody, The officers eventually used an electronic stun device in a bid to subdue him.

Later that evening, hotel personnel told police they had found what was determined to be a bag of meth in King's room.

The Union City man was also this week charged with possession of meth and possession of a controlled substance in a separate Randolph Superior Court case.

According to court records, King last year was convicted of possession of meth and possession of a narcotic drug in a Wayne County court.
