LAS CRUCES – The City of Las Cruces’ annual Fourth of July concert will feature local and national country music artists performing ahead of the fireworks display.

The city’s Parks & Recreation Department announced the concert lineup earlier this month with Randy Houser headlining.

Houser is a country music singer and songwriter with hits on the Billboard Hot 100 including “Anything Goes,” “How Country Feels” and “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight.” Prior to his singing career, Houser is credited with co-writing for fellow artists Trace Adkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Reba McEntire, Justin Moore and Chris Young.

His single “Like a Cowboy” was nominated for the Country Music Association Song of the Year award in 2015.

Local musicians Chris Baker and Dzaki Sukarno will open the concert. Both are based in Las Cruces and have a wide audience throughout the southwest region.

Baker has appeared at many events in Las Cruces and Mesilla and has opened for other musicians including Lee Brice, Charlie Daniels, The Dirty River Bots and Mike McClure. People can usually catch Baker performing at area venues on weekends.

Sukarno is an Asian artist who grew up in the Southwest. He appeared as a contestant on “American Idol” in 2021 and has since become very active on social media and the fair circuit. He released his first single, “Turquoise Cowgirl” in 2022 and “Darlin Texas” in 2023.

The annual concert and firework displays is a partnership between the City of Las Cruces’ Parks & Recreation Department and New Mexico State University. The concert will start at 6 p.m. at the Pat and Lou Sisbarro Community Park, located at 3205 Arrowhead Dr. Fireworks will start at 9:45 p.m.
