New ranking puts University of Detroit Mercy at No. 2 in Michigan for colleges

The University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) is the second-highest ranking university in Michigan, and among the top institutions in the country, according to recent results from The Wall Street Journal College Pulse.

According to a news release, UDM ranked No. 52 nationally, placing them as the second highest-ranking school in the state, following the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.

Donald B. Taylor, current president at UDM, said the school is grateful for the recognition as they dedicate themselves to academic achievement.

“This is a tremendous honor not just for our university, but for our students and alumni who do great work on our campuses, in their field and communities,” said Taylor. “It is truly gratifying to be recognized for the determination and commitment of our faculty, staff, and entire University family in working to help our students and community achieve success.”

UDM also ranked fourth amongst Catholic institutions following Georgetown University, Boston College, and the University of Notre Dame. It also ranked No. 41 out of 196 private universities included, and the third highest-ranked Jesuit university.

UDM scored well in three categories, including social mobility, salary impact, and student experience, contributing to their overall rank.
