Ranney School boys basketball outduels Manchester in nondivisional game

The Ranney School boys basketball team proved it can protect a big lead against a quality opponent on Wednesday night in Tinton Falls.

The host Panthers jumped out to a big advantage after the first quarter and they held off a couple of Manchester scoring sprees in the second half for a 58-46 nondivisional win at the Gerhard Pavilion for Athletics.

"Coach Tahj Holden told us before the game that they (Manchester) are going to make their runs," Ranney's Isaac Hester said. "We just had to stay composed and do what we do. We had to run our plays, run our sets, and that's what we did and got the win."

"We just had to make it tough for them (Manchester's Savon Myers and D'Maari Brown). Those guys are scorers," Hester said. "I'm pretty sure they have three 1,000th-point scorers on their team. So, we had to make every time (down the floor) tough for them."
