Rape trial begins for man accused of repeatedly demanding sex

A former Gunpowder Falls State Park manager who prosecutors said lured women into having sex with him, demanding it several times a day, went to trial Thursday. Michael Browning, 72, is indicted on 27 counts that include nine felony rape charges. He has been held without bail since his arrest in September 2022. In opening statements, prosecutors alleged Browning attacked two women who worked for him. Prosecutors said he lured the women into consensual sexual relationships, promising jobs and free housing at Gunpowder. Prosecutors said he demanded sex several times a day, and when they refused, he raped them.
