Rapper FBG Duck shot to death in downtown Chicago: report
FBG Duck, a rising rapper in Chicago’s underground hip-hop scene, was shot and killed Tuesday in the city’s glitzy Gold Coast neighborhood, WLS-TV reported, citing friends. The Illinois artist was 26.
Two vehicles pulled up in front of a store in the Gold Coast on Tuesday, and a pair of shooters emerged from each auto before opening fire on three victims, Chicago Police spokesperson Tom Ahern told the Daily News.
Another man, 36, and a 25-year-old woman were wounded in the shooting, which took place around the corner from Michigan Ave., Chicago’s central shopping thoroughfare, according to the police.
The four shooters drove off after unleashing the gunfire steps from Lake Michigan, Ahern said.
FBG Duck broke out in 2017 with a hit single, “Slide,” which earned him an XXL magazine profile and made him a rising star on the Chicago rap scene.
“Everybody thinks I’m this tough guy and that’s not necessarily true,” he told XXL. “I’m actually really quiet, humble and loyal. I love to make jokes and have a good time.”
FBG Duck was raised on the South Side of Chicago and rose with the Fly Boy Gang, the basis of the first three letters of his own moniker, according to his Apple Music biography. His brother FBG Brick was fatally shot three summers ago.
FBG Duck had built up a following of more than 100,000 on Spotify.
