Rapper Wretch 32 Shares Police Bodycam Video of Father Being Tasered at London Home

The British rapper Wretch 32, real name Jermaine Scott Sinclair, shared police bodycam video on Twitter on June 9 showing his father, 62-year-old Millard Scott, being tasered by police as they entered his home in Haringey in April.

“This is how the police think they can treat a 62-year-old black man in Tottenham, but this one happens to be my dad,” said Wretch 32 in the tweet containing the video.

In an interview with ITV, Millard Scott said he was “lucky to be alive” following the incident, and that he was “singled out and targeted” because he was black.

The Metropolitan Police disputed his version of events. “On Tuesday, April 21, officers attended an address in Bromley Road, N17, to carry out arrest enquiries as part of a long running operation to tackle drugs supply linked to serious violence in the Borough of Haringey,” said police in a statement. “A 22-year-old man located inside the address was arrested and later charged with encouraging another to commit an offence under the Serious Crime Act 2007.”

Police said that, as they entered the home, Scott “came downstairs and started moving towards an officer suddenly.”

“He was ordered to remain where he was but continued towards officers who, after several warnings, deployed a Taser,” said the statement. Credit: Met Police/Wretch 32 via Storyful
