Rare Cinderella Castle sleepover will be prize for contest

A one-night stay inside Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom is the royal prize in a giveaway that benefits Give Kids the World Village.

The experience includes other Walt Disney World activities, including three-day theme-park tickets loaded with park-hopping powers for four people, a $500 Disney gift card, an additional two-night stay in a standard room at a deluxe-level Disney World hotel for up to four guests and breakfast for four the morning of check-out from the Cinderella Castle Suite. If the winner lives more than 200 miles from Disney World, the prize includes domestic round-trip airfare for four people.

The two-night non-castle stay may be taken before or after the Magic Kingdom overnighter, and travel must be completed by Nov. 30, 2024.

There are two ways to enter. To secure a chance, go to gktw.org/castle and receive one entry for every $10 purchase. The site gives options for up to 500 entries for $5,000. To enter without making a purchase, the contest site has detailed mail-in instructions that must be postmarked by Oct. 16, 2023, and received by Oct. 20, 2023. The deadline to enter with purchases is 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2023.

One winner will be selected at random from the eligible entries on or about Oct. 24, the site says.

Among the fine-print information: Entrants must be at least 18 years old, a resident of one of the 50 states of the United States or Washington, D.C. There are some block-out dates for the prizes. The winner will check into the suite at 4 p.m. and check out the next day at 9 a.m. The winner and guests will be required to consent to a background check.

The value of the package is $9,308, according to the contest rules.

Kissimmee-based Give Kids the World Village is a nonprofit resort that provides weeklong vacations to critically ill children and their families. Since 1986, it has hosted more than 188,000 families.

“With the village full, support is needed now more than ever before to ensure we can continue our 37-year legacy of creating happiness, promoting optimism, and inspiring hope for the precious wish families we serve; and what a truly magical way of making that possible,” Pamela Landwirth, president and CEO of Give Kids the World, said in a news release.

Several years ago, the suite was carved out of unused space inside the castle. In 2007, a castle sleepover was part of Disney’s Year of a Million Dreams promotion awarded to Disney World visitors. It has mostly been out of circulation since then, but there are occasional reports of celebrities staying in the suite, which is four stories above ground level of the theme park.

Cinderella Castle Suite, designed in the style of a 17th-century chateau, features stained-glass windows, a limestone fireplace with a hovering portrait of Cinderella, a marble-floored foyer, mosaics, murals and a clock, halted poetically at 11:59.
