A rare funnel cloud loomed over downtown San Diego on Sunday, January 24, as storms bringing moderate to heavy rainfall were forecast to hit the city.
Footage captured by Stephen Moore from his high-rise condo shows the column as it moves across the sky.
Writing on YouTube, Moore said, “I noticed clouds beginning to rotate so I grabbed my phone and started recording. I caught the entire weather event from start to finish. San Diego never gets this type of weather.”
The local National Weather Service office said they had “some weak rotation on radar” as they confirmed a funnel cloud was spotted in the downtown area. “This we definitely don’t see every day,” they said. Credit: Stephen Moore via Storyful
