Rated Class B boys teams De Smet, Aberdeen Christian & Castlewood win

Three area rated Class B high school boys basketball teams (No. 2 De Smet, No. 3 Aberdeen Christian and No. 5 Castlewood) each recorded victories on Monday.

De Smet rolled to a 68-24 Dakota Valley Conference win over Dell Rapids St. Mary, Aberdeen Christian rolled past Britton-Hecla 64-27 and Castlewood turned back Elkton-Lake Benton 66-50 in another DVC game.

Kadyn Fast led De Smet with 21 points. Damon Wilkinson added 13, George Jensen 11 and Thomas Aughenbaugh 10. Wilkinson also hauled in nine rebounds and Jensen eight. Maverick LeBrun had seven points and Trevon Beckman seven rebounds for St. Mary.

Malek Wieker scored 16 points, Ethan Russell and Jackson Isakson each 11 and Andrew Brennan nine for Aberdeen Christian. Ty Fagerland and Landon Carlson led Britton-Hecla with seven and six points, respectively.

Lane Tvedt poured in 23 points and Bryon Laue added 18 points and nine rebounds for Castlewood. Jackson Schofield finished with eight points and seven rebounds and Quincy Thu nine rebounds. Ryan Krog scored 13 points, Tanner Stein 11 and Blake DeVries 10 for Elkton-Lake Benton. Stein and Carson Griffith each snared seven rebounds.

Other Monday Boys Basketball: In other games involving area teams, Timber Lake downed Herreid-Selby Area 56-46 and Ellendale cruised past Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter 67-32 in a North Dakota game. No other details were reported.

Area Girls Basketball

Arlington 81, Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 36: The Cardinals rolled to victory in the Dakota Valley Conference game with 19 points from Addie Steffensen, 17 from Jo Steffensen, 16 from Jaelyn Huntimer and 14 from Harley Johnson. Bailey Hyland had 10 points and Brooklyn Hageman eight for ORR.

Warner 56, Northwestern 42: Kyra Marcuson's 21 points powered Warner to the Lake Region Conference victory. Ava Nilsson chipped in with 11 points and Kendyl Anderson 10. Ella Boekelheide tallied 11 points, Adriana Ratigan 10 and Tara Blachford eight for Northwestern.

Estelline-Hendricks 49, Iroquois-Lake Preston 43: The Redhawks used 14 points from Sadie Johnson, 12 from Kenzy Beare and nine from Brooke Johnson to pull out the Dakota Valley Conference victory. Adison Moore erupted for 34 points for ILP, which also received nine points from Hadlee Holt.

Britton-Hecla 30, Aberdeen Christian 28: Tiyanna Schott's 14 points sparked Britton-Hecla, which also got six points from Addison Wade. Chloe Holt finished with 11 points and Chloe Bosma five for Aberdeen Christian.

North Central 43, Strasburg-Zeeland (N.D.) 33: Brittney Frickson scored nine points and Ella Batie and Kaitlyn Hoerner eight apiece for lead North Central. Addison Wagner's 15 points topped Strasburg-Zeeland.

Other Monday Girls Basketball: In other games involving area teams, Timber Lake defeated Herreid-Selby Area 55-52 and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley (Minn.) slipped past Tri-State 70-66. No other details were reported.
