Richard Sullivan, a social studies teacher at the high school, has been named assistant principal at Brown Middle School. He replaces JaCari Parks, an assistant principal at the high school and the RISE program who had been set to become an assistant principal at Brown. Parks resigned last month to take a position at the I Promise School in Akron, Superintendent Dr. Laura Hebert said.

Last year, Hebert announced several administrative moves within the district.

Ben Ribelin, who has served in the Ravenna district for 22 years, moved from director of human resources to the new position of assistant superintendent. Jonathan Lane, principal at Brown Middle School, became principal of Ravenna High School. Beth Coleman, who was principal at the high school, became principal at West Main Elementary School. And Dwight Lee Smith, who was principal at West Main, became director of the district's preschool, and also serves as the district's data coach and coordinator of special services.

Catrina Seeden-Burwell later was hired to become principal at Brown.

The board also issued one-year contracts to eight social studies teachers, including Steven Farhat, who will fill Sullivan's vacancy at the high school.
