Ravenna's 'Miss Ambry' Bivins celebrates 100th birthday

Ambry Bivins, a resident of Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna, recently celebrated her 100th birthday with staff and friends.

Miss Ambry, as she is known, was born in Columbus, Georgia to Maybell and Charlie Gamble. The family moved to Ohio in 1926.

She has been a resident of Ravenna for more than 50 years. She enjoys walking and spending time on the fish bank.

Longmeadow has been her home since about August 2020.

A member of the New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, she’s known for her gift of sharing with others.

Her pastor, BJ Grant, helped celebrate her day. Her cousin, Ronald King, also resides in Ravenna.

When asked why she believes she’s lived so long, she replied “It had to be God’s will."
