Ravens practice observations: Training camp fisticuffs a sign that players are revved up

There is no training camp if there are no fights.

It got spicy near the end of Ravens practice Friday when Ravens safeties Chuck Clark and Earl Thomas III got into a heated exchange. The thing that made this spat interesting is that both play on defense, and exchanges are usually between an offensive and defensive player.

It got nasty with players and assistant coaches having to physically step in and separate Clark and Thomas. They exchanged words and attempted to get after each other for several minutes before Clark left to go into the locker room while Thomas participated in the final 10 minutes of practice.

Coach John Harbaugh finally stepped in and was unhappy that his team had to waste several minutes and a lot of individual repetitions breaking up a fight instead of practicing. I don’t know what caused the two to square off, but earlier in the practice Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters seemed irritated at Clark after receiver Marquise Brown beat Peters on a long touchdown pass.
