Raymond M. Beard, an 83-year-old Topekan who'd been missing since early Sunday, was found Wednesday morning in Jefferson County after being the subject off a Silver Alert issued earlier that day by Topeka police.

Beard was being taken to a hospital to be medically checked out, said Topeka police Lt. Manuel Munoz.

He said Beard had previously last been heard from when he made a telephone call seeking roadside assistance while driving his car about 1 a.m. Sunday.

Beard did not know where he was at the time, and roadside assistance was unable to locate him, Munoz said.

Beard, who uses a pacemaker and has heart issues and medication-depending diabetes, missed a kidney dialysis appointment that had been scheduled for Monday, he added.
