Brandon Lowe may have delivered the big blow against the Angels in Wednesday night’s 3-1 win, but he won’t be starting on Thursday night against lefthander Andrew Heaney.

Lowe has just one hit in 32 at-bats against lefthanded pitching this season. This is the third time in the past nine days that he was either out of the lineup or was replaced as a pinch-hitter with a lefty on the mound.

The second baseman has picked his average up from .160 to .193 in the past week and crushed a three-run homer to centerfield on Wednesday.

Kevin Kieramier is actually hitting .364 against lefthanders this season but was replaced in Thursday’s lineup by Brett Phillips.

Collin McHugh will be the opener for the Rays, with Josh Fleming expected to pitch the bulk of the innings.

Here is the Rays’ lineup:

Arozarena LF

Margot RF

Meadows DH

Diaz 1B

Brosseau 2B

Wendle 3B

Zunino C

Adames SS

Phillips CF
