The Golden Raspberry Awards apologized after receiving a sour response for nominating a 12-year-old for worst actress.

“Firestarter” star Ryan Kiera Armstrong was removed from the ballot and the Razzies will no longer nominate actors under age 18, founder John Wilson said, according to Variety.

“We also believe a public apology is owed Ms. Armstrong, and wish to say we regret any hurt she experienced as a result of our choices,” Wilson said in a statement.

Created in 1981, the Razzies recognize the “worst” films and performances of the year at a ceremony typically held the day before the Academy Awards.

The 2023 nominations came out Monday, with many criticizing Armstrong’s inclusion.

“The razzies are already mean-spirited & classless, but to nominate a kid is just repulsive & wrong,” tweeted Julian Hilliard, an 11-year-old actor known for “WandaVision.” “Why put a kid at risk of increased bullying or worse? Be better.”

The event’s creator described the criticism as “valid.”

“We have never intended to bury anyone’s career,” Wilson said in his statement. “It is why our Redeemer Award was created. We all make mistakes, very much us included. Since our motto is ‘Own Your Bad,’ we realize that we ourselves must also live up to it.”

Last year, the Razzies rescinded an award for Bruce Willis after the actor’s family revealed he was diagnosed with the cognitive condition aphasia. The “Die Hard” star stepped away from acting following his diagnosis.
