May 4—Rogue Community College will host four online diversity events this month, all free and open to the public.

"Seeking Shelter: An Honest Discussion on Homelessness" will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, "Preacher Moss: Conscious Comedy" will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 7, "The Defamation Experience" will be held at 6 p.m. May 20, and "Courageous Conversations: Putting the Civil Back in Civil Discourse" will be held at 1 p.m. May 25.

The Seeking Shelter virtual forum will feature Dr. Douglas Mungin, whom RCC is touting as "an expert voice on how a community can address homelessness with best practices." A panel of local community leaders will also be on hand to discuss the impact of homelessness in Southern Oregon.

Preacher Moss is a stand-up comedian, lecturer and anti-racism advocate who has performed across the U.S. and internationally. According to RCC, his message "simultaneously occupies two spaces of laughter and intellectual engagement at the same time."

The two-hour Defamation Experience will begin with a courtroom drama that explores the highly charged issues of race, class, religion, gender and the law with a twist — the audience will serve as the jury.

For Courageous Conversations, RCC Diversity Programming Board coordinator Sally Snyder, the Rev. Ryan Scott, the Rev. Ernestine Flemister and the Rev. Tom Berry will lead a discussion every month exploring the themes of institutional racism, white privilege and the history of racism in Oregon. This month's discussion will include special guest Ron Jones from the social justice theater company Dialogues on Diversity.
