The RCMP's counter-terrorism team carried out searches at private residences in the Quebec City region this week involving an individual with ties to the Valcartier military base.

The integrated national security enforcement team executed a search warrant on Wednesday and Thursday.

The group tracks, deters, disrupts and prevents criminal activities of terrorist groups.

Erique Gasse, a spokesperson for the RCMP, said Thursday that the investigation involved an employee of the base, as well as an outside vehicle.

On Thursday, the RCMP said the search warrants were executed on Canadian Forces Base Valcartier (CFB Valcartier), located northwest of Quebec City.

The RCMP corrected the information Friday to say that the military base was advised a search might be necessary but one did not take place.

The team also conducted a search at another address in the region but would not say if the searches are still ongoing.

Gasse confirmed the RCMP has the Canadian Armed Forces' full co-operation.

"As the investigation is ongoing, we are unable to provide further details on the allegations or the nature of the operation," Gasse wrote in an email, Thursday.

There have been no arrests but people are being questioned. No individuals are in custody.

In an emailed statement, a spokesperson with National Defence said the military police are supporting the RCMP.
