The Cincinnati Bengals played most of the night without star receiver Tee Higgins. They came away without any points late in the third quarter despite a 1st-and-goal, and an animated discussion between head coach Zac Taylor and offensive tackle La'el Collins followed after Collins appeared to miss a blocking assignment on the 4th-down shovel-pass play.
Nevertheless, the Bengals took a 17-16 lead late in the fourth quarter on quarterback Joe Burrow's 1-yard sneak and Evan McPherson's too-close-for-comfort extra point.
But they left too much time for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and Justin Tucker made a 43-yard field goal to win it 19-17 as time expired.
All three of their losses this season have come on walk-off field goals.
Social media reactions:
Zac Taylor: It's just frustrating to lose. We knew this was going to be a tough test. We were close, but not close enough. #Bengals

With the Rams and Bengals both sitting at 2-3:
This is the 3rd time that each of the teams to play in the previous year's Super Bowl have had a losing record through 5 games.

Zac Taylor: "The defense played well from start to finish."
"The offense found their rhythm... It goes to show you how quickly these games can go."

Ooof… probably could have used those three points.

Joe Burrow: "Tough loss. Frustrating. Still a lot of football to be played. We're not going to panic. 0-2 in the division is not ideal."
