The Kansas City Chiefs answered the Cincinnati Bengals' three-and-out on their first possession of Sunday's AFC Championship win with an 11-play, 84-yard scoring drive that ended with Patrick Mahomes' 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill.
Mahomes completed all five of his pass attempts for 48 yards, and ran 11 yards on his only rushing attempt. Jerick McKinnon added 24 rushing yards on four carries.
There was no play longer than 15 yards on the Chiefs' opening drive.
"That's what makes them so much more dangerous than other years - their patience," CBS color analyst Tony Romo said.
Mahomes was intercepted by Bengals lineman B.J. Hill late in the third quarter, the first pick he had thrown in 132 career attempts in AFC Championship games.
Social media reactions:
That drive reminded me of the first drive of Cincinnati vs. Alabama.
With the defense spread out behind the line of scrimmage, the Chiefs responded with a patient series of runs and underneath throws. When the Chiefs offense is patient, it’s usually good.

Bengals struggling to get pressure on Mahomes on that drive. He had all day, completes a touchdown pass to Hill with 3 Cincinnati defenders around.

This is a mesmerizing shot. Mind-blowing what Mahomes does every time out that makes this stuff so routine for him. https://t.co/2FlJXV67CX
