Hard to keep those slanderous stories straight

Rural Retreat, Va.: I really don’t understand the satisfaction people get pushing mistruths and lies about national politicians, COVID, governors and more. Here are some examples: President Biden’s health — is he senile or the king of a mafia family? Stick to policies he puts in place, and what you like or dislike about them. Hunter Biden’s laptop. Need I say more?

The USNS Comfort was sent by then-Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump. Per the Navy, the ship was not to take COVID patients. Gov. Andrew Cuomo had no military authority to make decisions regarding it. For the truth, go to the Navy’s website.

But who cares? Headlines about Cuomo’s responsibility for COVID deaths are still posted today. The actual statement providing context was made by a visibly grieving Cuomo saying how the state counted hospital deaths separate from institutional deaths. Yes, people died, and their families grieved just like he did when his father died.

He has multiple accusers, but in recent reports, transcripts and new depositions, reluctant accusers are refusing to be deposed under oath. It seems that there is more to the story.

Maybe don’t set your notifications to bring you hateful misinformation. Calling a political leader a murderer, senile, a sex fiend or a criminal doesn’t move us. Maybe put your energy into advocating for changes in policies you disagree with. Who knows, you might do some good. Kathleen Cobbs

Exchange program

Woodside: Let’s empty Rikers Island and send all the prisoners to Texas. One for one — for every migrant we get, they get a Rikers inmate. Sounds good to me. Richard Tobiassen

Step down

Whitestone: Yo, President Biden! Do the right thing, swallow your pride and walk away. You are handing this country to the Republi-cons on a silver platter. Man up! Robin Mazzia

Not so

Bayonne: To Voicer Sharon Austry: You must be smoking some of that medical cannabis down there in Fort Worth. President Biden is honest? Really? Have you been watching the news lately? Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie. Treats women with respect? Hair sniffing, groping and forcibly kissing every woman he gets close to. Any president who’s for open borders is not for democracy. It’s Biden who’s a dictator. Our country has been in decline since he came into office. I can’t see how anyone would vote blue in 2024. Even Democrats don’t want Joe in 2024, and Kamala Harris isn’t qualified to run a hot dog cart. Don’t let her anywhere near the Oval Office. Mike Armstrong

Bully

Englewood, N.J.: When I was young, there was an intellectually challenged woman, quite unattractive, who delivered the newspapers to homes in my neighborhood. She was verbally bullied on a daily basis by young men who did not seem to care about the hurt they were causing. I remember, even at my young age, feeling so sorry for her and wondering how anyone could take pleasure from such nastiness. I am a senior citizen and I am still appalled by the cruel verbiage used by a man, another senior citizen, who takes delight in labeling, name-calling and bullying anyone he does not like. The only sentences he uses are to deny any guilt and continually, wrongfully claim he never lost the election. You did lose, Donald Trump, and hopefully you will continue to lose. Bullies like you should be made to feel the wrath you have reaped on others. Irene Dikranian

Send him

Bronx: Fani T. Willis meets Donnie at the Fulton County Station. And she’s putting him on the ex-prez train to jail. Fred Smith

Analog backup

Brooklyn: If a cable company won’t give you a broadcast channel, a solution is to get an indoor antenna. It is easy to set up. I have a small TV set up with an antenna in case this ever happens. John Blank

Ultimatum

Astoria: I can see that I am not the only one requesting that you go back to the old crossword in the back of the Saturday paper. What is the purpose of making it so small, along with the print, when it is mostly older long-time readers that pay attention to it? It is the older generation that has kept this paper in existence, so why not give us a break? After all, we will all be gone in the next few years, along with the paper, because the younger generation wouldn’t waste their money. This is my third request. I hope it’s a charm. Patricia Wilson

Missed a step

Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J.: When Mayor Adams declared that NYC was a sanctuary city, did he also state that there would be an entry tax on the migrants? He and his staff, along with Gov. Hochul, knew it would be a large undertaking and at that time should have asked for federal funding before opening Pandora’s box. Robert Stiloski

At capacity

Brooklyn: I already see that Mayor Adams is going to be a one-term mayor. He has absolutely no clue what to do about this overwhelming flow of migrants coming into the city. Yes, we are a sanctuary city, but we are now full and can not accept any more! I’m sure that when the idea to make NYC a sanctuary city was made, they never anticipated 10,000 migrants would come into the city each month. Furthermore, the migrants are jumping the line in front of legal NYC residents for all services, including enrolling our children in school. Enough is enough. We have reached capacity. Keith Williams

Technicality tactic

Manhattan: Your article “6 migrants busted in brawl with cops over motorscooters” (Sept. 8) starts: “Neighborhood complaints over the proliferation on unregistered gas-powered scooters” and then goes on to describe how the cops seized several of the vehicles because they were unregistered. I seriously doubt that the neighborhood complaints were concerned about the “unregistered” part of that. They probably just don’t like all of those scooters in the neighborhood. The “unregistered” element (over which most migrants have no control because they lack papers, and they rely on the scooters to make a living) was just a lame excuse to seize the scooters and satiate the entitled neighbors. The root issue that needs to be addressed is educating the entitled about what it means to be a neighbor — coexisting and sharing the streets with everyone. Ken Blomster

Recycle rejection

Howard Beach: I recently put out my garbage, paper, plastics and glass to be picked up the next day. Sanitation took the trash and paper but left the plastics and glass, which was full. I called 311 to file a missed pick-up complaint. I was asked whether the pail had decals saying it was plastics and glass, which it doesn’t. The pail is bright blue with the word “recycle” imprinted on it along with the recycle symbol. Sanitation always takes it, but didn’t this time. This city takes in 10,000 migrants a month and I can’t get my trash picked up because of a sticker? Time to move. George Martin

Not as I do

Morristown, N.J.: In true lefty-lib Democrat fashion, Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates is just another disingenuous, phony hypocrite. She states that private schools are fascist and racist, yet she sends her kid to a private school. Oftentimes, those who play the race card are themselves the racists. And oftentimes, incompetent radicals are voted for to hold important positions like union president. Frank J. Perry

Alternative plan

East Meadow, L.I.: In order to get $600 million in federal funding, the city wants to put retirees into an Aetna Medicare Advantage plan. This plan is opposed by many retirees, and has been put on hold by a judge. However, if the city wishes to save millions of dollars, cut off city and state funding for charter schools. These nonprofit school outfits get millions of dollars in cash from corporate sponsors and receive supply donations such as computer labs from computer manufacturers. They occupy spaces in real public schools rent-free and in entire buildings with the city paying for it. Their CEOs, such as Eva Moskowitz, have donated millions to politicians to keep the gravy train rolling. This must stop. Then we will have enough funding to keep retiree health care the way it is.
