Reading Area Community College signs transfer agreement with Muhlenberg College

Sep. 20—Reading Area Community College has signed a guaranteed transfer agreement with Muhlenberg College.

The deal will provide RACC graduates guaranteed admissions to accelerated degree programs through Muhlenberg's school of continuing studies. Graduates with an associate in arts, science or applied science will be able to transfer to an aligned program.

A RACC graduate will be able to complete their bachelor's degree within 22 months.

"We are celebrating today a new agreement with Muhlenberg College, which will open many new doors of opportunity for our graduates," Dr. Susan Looney, RACC president, said in a statement announcing the agreement. "This pathway is the result of great cooperation and collaboration between faculty and deans of our respective institutions and will serve well both the needs of our institutions and, more importantly, those of our students."

Muhlenberg President Kathleen Harring said the deal is all about providing opportunity to students.

"The new admissions agreement between Reading Area Community College and Muhlenberg College will expand access to our college's transformative education for Pennsylvania students," she said. "This partnership will provide a direct pathway to a Muhlenberg degree for the talented graduates of RACC programs."

Along with guaranteed admissions at Muhlenberg, RACC students will also be eligible to receive an annual scholarship of $1,500. Members of Phi Theta Kappa at RACC will be eligible to received an additional $500 per year.

"The availability of student scholarships when transferring a RACC associate degree to Muhlenberg College's bachelor's degree program makes access to a continuing education easier and will reduce the financial burden for our qualified transferring students," said Kristen M. Marcinko, RACC director of academic partnerships.
